Cross River State is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, located in the South South geopolitical zone. The state capital is Calabar, which is the administrative, commercial and political centre of the state. Cross River covers a total land area of 20,156 km². The state has an estimated population of 3,930,000 people. The population density is approximately 195 persons per km².
