Kogi State is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, located in the North Central geopolitical zone. The state capital is Lokoja, which is the administrative, commercial and political centre of the state. Kogi covers a total land area of 29,833 km². The state has an estimated population of 4,200,000 people. The population density is approximately 141 persons per km².
