Bauchi State is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, located in the North East geopolitical zone. The state capital is Bauchi, which is the administrative, commercial and political centre of the state. Bauchi covers a total land area of 45,893 km². The state has an estimated population of 6,537,000 people. The population density is approximately 142 persons per km².
