Rivers State is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, located in the South South geopolitical zone. The state capital is Port Harcourt, which is the administrative, commercial and political centre of the state. Rivers covers a total land area of 11,077 km². The state has an estimated population of 7,300,000 people. The population density is approximately 659 persons per km².
