Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara (DESPO) is a state-owned polytechnic established through a bill signed into law by Governor James Onanefe Ibori in November 2002. It was born out of a partnership between the Delta State Ministry of Education and Westminster University, London — known as the Delta State Higher Education Project (DSHEP). Located in the agricultural community of Otefe in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, DESPO operates under the motto "Technology for Entrepreneurship," reflecting its philosophy of using technical skills for wealth creation. The polytechnic is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
