Federal Polytechnic, Mubi is a federal government-owned polytechnic and one of the original seven federal polytechnics established by the Federal Military Government under Decree No. 33 of 1979. The institution commenced operations in August 1979 as the Federal Polytechnic, Yola, and was relocated to Mubi in October 1982 following a presidential directive, taking over the infrastructure of the defunct Federal School of Arts and Sciences. Located in Mubi, one of the most commercially active border towns in northeastern Nigeria, the polytechnic has grown from a pioneer intake of 138 students across 10 departments to over 14,000 students across 37 departments and 45 accredited programmes in 6 schools. It ranks among the top five federal polytechnics in Nigeria by academic output, staff strength (approximately 700 academic staff), and programme breadth. The polytechnic offers National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and certificate programmes, with a vision to be a first-rate technology training and research polytechnic.

Adamawa State Polytechnic (ADAMAWAPOLY), popularly known as "SPY Yola," is a state government-owned polytechnic established in 1991 through the merger of the College of Preliminary Studies, Yola, and the Staff Development Institute, Numan. Located on the Yola-Numan Road in Jimeta-Yola, the polytechnic is the premier state technical institution in Adamawa State. It is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and operates across three distinct campuses: the Main Campus in Jimeta-Yola (Science and Engineering), the Jambutu Campus (Environmental Sciences), and the Numan Campus (Business and Administrative Studies). The polytechnic is uniquely affiliated with the University of Maiduguri, enabling it to run full degree programmes in addition to standard ND and HND programmes. It also offers Post-Graduate Diplomas (PGD) and National Skill Qualifications (NSQ).
