Benue State Polytechnic is the premier state polytechnic in Benue State, established in 1977 as the Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology by then military governor Colonel Abdullahi Shelleng. It was upgraded to polytechnic status in 1992 and is located in Ugbokolo, Okpokwu Local Government Area, in the southern part of Benue State. Accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the polytechnic operates under the motto "Excellence and Relevance." It serves as the administrative hub for several Benue State polytechnics including Akperan Orshi Polytechnic (Yandev), Akawe Torkula Polytechnic (Makurdi), and Gboko Polytechnic (Gboko), whose students use the Benue State Polytechnic student portal for HND registrations and statement of results processing.
