Federal Polytechnic, Oko — popularly known as OKOPOLY — is a federal government-owned polytechnic located in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Its origins trace to 1979, when the Oko Progressive Union established a College of Arts and Science, largely catalysed by the patronage of Dr Alex Ekwueme, a former Vice President of Nigeria and son of Oko. The institution was formalised as the Anambra State Polytechnic, Oko, through Edict No. 12 of 1985, and was subsequently taken over by the Federal Government in 1993, at which point it was renamed Federal Polytechnic, Oko. OKOPOLY operates three campuses: the main campus at Oko (89 hectares), the Ufuma campus (52 hectares), and the Atani campus (40 hectares). It is one of the most strategically situated polytechnics in Nigeria, surrounded by the industrial and commercial hubs of Nnewi, Awka, Onitsha and Aba. The polytechnic has signed memoranda of understanding with several universities within and outside Nigeria, and operates 8 academic schools. Dr Chioma Irene Awuzie serves as Rector as of 2026.
