Heritage Polytechnic (HERITAGEPOLY)

Federal Polytechnic, Ukana is a federal government-owned polytechnic established in 2014 by the Federal Government of Nigeria and located in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The institution is situated at Km 5 on the Ikot Ekpene-Abak Road. Legal backing for its establishment was provided by the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act 2019. Accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the polytechnic has grown rapidly since take-off, with the NBTE approving an additional 19 programmes in May 2025 (approval letters dated 11 May 2025), expanding its total programme offerings to approximately 27 by the 2025/2026 academic session. In 2023, Dr Mercy Daniel Ebong was appointed rector by the Federal Government. The polytechnic is a beneficiary of TETFund intervention projects and hosts an active Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) chapter, which is planning its maiden international conference in June 2026.

Foundation College of Technology is a privately owned polytechnic located on Ikot Idem Offikono Road, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. The institution was founded in 2013 and received NBTE accreditation for all its programmes in 2014, making it one of the fastest accreditations achieved by a new polytechnic in Nigeria. Chaired by Edet A. Ekanem, the polytechnic serves the Ikot Ekpene axis of Akwa Ibom State, offering National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes in business, sciences and technology. The institution is sometimes referred to as Innovation Polytechnic in informal references. Its location in Ikot Ekpene — a major commercial city in Akwa Ibom State known for its basket-weaving industry and as the headquarters of the Annang nation — gives students access to a vibrant commercial environment for practical exposure.

Southern Atlantic Polytechnic is a privately owned NBTE-listed polytechnic established in 2020, located at KM 50 on the Airport Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. As the newest polytechnic in Akwa Ibom State, Southern Atlantic Polytechnic was established during a period of rapid educational expansion in Akwa Ibom. Its strategic location along the Uyo-Calabar Airport Road provides accessibility for students from Uyo, the Itu LGA axis and communities along the corridor between Uyo and Calabar. The polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes in business, sciences and engineering technology.

Sure Foundation Polytechnic is a privately owned NBTE-accredited polytechnic established in 2016, located in Ikot Akai, Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The polytechnic plays an important role in extending technical and vocational education to the rural communities of Ukanafun LGA and the broader Oruk Anam/Ukanafun axis of Akwa Ibom State, areas that have historically had limited access to tertiary education. The polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes in business, sciences and engineering technology, providing affordable technical education to students from rural Akwa Ibom communities who may not have the resources to study in Uyo or Ikot Ekpene.

Trinity Polytechnic is a privately owned NBTE-accredited polytechnic established in 2016, located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom State. The polytechnic operates seven departments across schools of Engineering, Sciences and Management Sciences, offering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. Trinity Polytechnic serves the growing student population of Uyo and its environs, providing an additional private polytechnic option in the state capital alongside Uyo City Polytechnic and the nearby Southern Atlantic Polytechnic. The institution has received a national ranking by NBTE, appearing as number 95 in the StatiSense NBTE ranking exercise — a creditable position for a polytechnic founded in 2016.

Uyo City Polytechnic is a privately owned polytechnic established in 2013 (2012/2013 academic session) and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in 2014, located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom State. The polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes across three schools: School of Engineering, School of Sciences and School of Management Sciences. Uyo City Polytechnic provides technical and vocational education to students in the Uyo metropolitan area, serving as one of three polytechnics with a presence in or near Uyo city (alongside Trinity Polytechnic and Southern Atlantic Polytechnic). In national polytechnic rankings, the institution has appeared in the NBTE ranking exercise.
