Temple Gate Polytechnic (TEMPLEGATEPOLY)

Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi is a newly established federal polytechnic located in Ngodo, Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) granted the institution its institutional and administrative approval to commence academic programmes on January 14, 2025, following a resource inspection visit from January 7–10, 2025. The polytechnic fills a historic gap as Abia State previously had no federal polytechnic within its territory. The institution is a beneficiary of the 2025 TETFund Zonal Intervention Project, which will support its physical infrastructure development. It is co-located in the same Isuochi community as the Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, reflecting the area's growing status as an educational hub in Abia State.

Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology (IMIT) is a private polytechnic established in 2021 and listed in the NBTE 2025 Directory of Accredited Programmes. Located in Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, the institution is named after Professor Iheanyichukwu Madubuike, a distinguished Abia-born literary scholar, academic, and former Federal Minister of Education of Nigeria. IMIT was established to bring technical and vocational education to the Isuochi community and the broader Umunneochi area of Abia State, which also hosts the newly established Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi. The institution offers National Diploma programmes aligned with NBTE guidelines.

Uma Ukpai Polytechnic is a private polytechnic established in 2017 and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), located in Asaga, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. The polytechnic is named after Bishop Uma Ukpai, a prominent Nigerian Christian evangelist and native of the Ohafia people of Abia State. The institution was established to provide technical and vocational education to the people of Ohafia and the broader Abia North senatorial district, a region historically underserved by higher educational institutions. Uma Ukpai Polytechnic serves as an important educational access point for students in the Ohafia, Arochukwu and Bende local government areas of northern Abia State.

Valley View Polytechnic is a private polytechnic established in 2015 and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), located near the Goodluck Jonathan Army Barracks in Ebem, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. The polytechnic was founded on the philosophy of producing technically skilled, entrepreneurially minded graduates who can drive economic development in their communities. Valley View offers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in engineering, business, and sciences. Its location in the Ohafia axis provides access to technical education for students from Ohafia, Arochukwu, and the Cross River State border communities.

Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba (formerly Abia State Polytechnic, Aba) is the premier state polytechnic in Abia State, established in 1992 under Edict No. 8 with retrospective effect from October 1992. It was renamed on November 7, 2024, by Governor Alex Otti to honour Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, the first democratically elected Governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science and Technology. Located in Abayi, Aba, near the Enyimba International Stadium, the polytechnic is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Under its current rector, Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro (appointed March 2024), the institution achieved full NBTE accreditation for all 33 existing programmes plus 17 new programmes, cleared 36 months of outstanding staff salary arrears, and became the first polytechnic in Nigeria to establish a Department of Artificial Intelligence.
