Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu was born on 3 August 1964 in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He holds B.Sc, M.Sc and MBA degrees in Computer Science and Management from the University of Lagos, and has completed executive training at Harvard Kennedy School.
Before entering politics, Salisu worked with multinational corporations including Total, Mobil and ETB. He founded Simplex Automation Systems, an ICT company. He served as Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun from 2019 to 2023.
In the 2023 general elections, he won the Ogun Central Senatorial seat under the APC platform with 96,759 votes, defeating the PDP candidate David Olumide Aderinokun. He serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity and Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity.
