Aniekan Etim Bassey is a Nigerian businessman and politician who has served as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East since 13 June 2023, succeeding Bassey Albert Akpan. He holds a degree from the University of Uyo.
He previously served as the 7th Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2023, representing Uruan State Constituency. During that tenure he also served as Vice Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Chairman of the South-South Speakers Forum, and Chairman of the House Committee on Parliamentary Affairs. He founded the RHAB-YESS Foundation to mentor and support young entrepreneurs, rural women and indigent students in Akwa Ibom.
In the Senate, he serves as Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development. In July 2025 he defected from the PDP to the APC, following the broader political realignment led by Governor Umo Eno.
