Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) is a state-owned university established by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The university was conceived on 18 October 2000 and formally established by a university law enacted on 15 September 2009; academic activities commenced in 2010. AKSU operates two campuses — the main campus at Ikot Akpaden in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, and the Obio Akpa Campus.
