Olubiyi Fadeyi-Ajagunla was elected Senator for Osun Central Senatorial District in the 25 February 2023 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeating incumbent Senator Ajibola Basiru of the APC (then spokesperson of the 9th Senate) with 134,229 votes to Basiru's 117,609. He is the founder of the Ajagunla Foundation, a philanthropic non-profit, as well as The Fane Group and the Harvard Continental Hotel and Suites in Ile-Ife.

In 2025, Fadeyi defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing litigation and instability within his former party, and went on to chair the Senate Committee on Environment. In May 2026 he declared his intention to seek re-election in 2027 on the APC platform, but lost the party's senatorial primary to legal practitioner Adekunle Adegoke (SAN), polling 13,138 votes to Adegoke's 26,655. Fadeyi publicly rejected the result, alleging the process was not properly conducted.
