Kola Adewusi was born on 5 October 1968. He was selected as the running mate of Ademola Adeleke on the Peoples Democratic Party platform for the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election, and was elected Deputy Governor when Adeleke won, taking office on 27 November 2022, succeeding Benedict Alabi.
He has remained Adeleke's deputy through the governor's December 2025 defection from the PDP to the Accord Party, and was present alongside the Secretary to the State Government and other officials when Adeleke was confirmed as the Accord Party's governorship candidate for the 2026 election.
