What is the NYSC Senate List?
The NYSC senate list — officially called the Senate/Academic Board Approved List — is the official record of graduates whose academic results have been ratified by their institution's senate or academic board and formally submitted to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for mobilization.
Think of it as your institution's formal certification to NYSC that you have completed your degree programme and are eligible to participate in the mandatory one-year national service. Without your name on this list, you cannot register on the NYSC portal, receive a call-up letter, or go to orientation camp.
The senate list contains your: full name, matriculation number, course of study, date of graduation, and institution. It is the first gate you must pass through in the entire NYSC mobilization journey.
How to Check NYSC Senate List 2026 — Step by Step
Follow these exact steps to verify your name on the NYSC senate approved list. This works for all batches in 2026.
Visit the Official NYSC Portal
Go to https://portal.nysc.org.ng. You can go directly to the senate list page at portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc1/VerifySenateLists.aspx or the alternative portal.nysc.org.ng/nysc2/VerifySenateLists.aspx.
Click "Verify Senate List or Its Equivalents"
On the NYSC portal homepage, scroll down and click "Verify Senate List or Its Equivalents". This opens the verification page.
Select Your Institution Type
Choose University, Polytechnic, or College of Education. Foreign-trained graduates need an NYSC evaluation letter instead.
Select Your Institution Name
Choose your school from the dropdown list. Make sure to select the correct institution — e.g. "University of Lagos" not "Lagos State University".
Enter Your Details
Enter your matriculation number exactly as registered, your surname as it appears on your academic records, and your date of birth.
Click Search and Read Your Result
Name appears: You are approved — proceed to NYSC registration.
"No Record Found": Your school may not have uploaded yet. Wait 24–72 hours and try again.
What to Do If Your Name is Not on the NYSC Senate List
Seeing "No Record Found" does not necessarily mean there is a serious problem. Here is what to do step by step:
1. Wait and Check Again
Institutions upload senate lists in batches. If your batch registration hasn't opened yet, your list may simply not be uploaded. Check again after 24–48 hours.
2. Visit Your Institution's DSA or Mobilization Office
Ask them to confirm: (a) that your senate results have been ratified, and (b) that the list has been forwarded to NYSC. Some schools batch their submissions.
3. Check Your JAMB Matriculation List
Ensure your name appears correctly on the JAMB matriculation list at jamb.gov.ng. Discrepancies between JAMB records and your institution records can block uploads.
4. Complete All Final Year Clearance
Outstanding library books, fees, departmental clearance or project submissions can hold your name back. Confirm with your department and bursary that clearance is fully done.
5. Contact NYSC Directly
If your batch registration has opened and your name still isn't there, email info@nysc.gov.ng or visit the NYSC state office in your state of origin. Have your matric number, school ID and academic transcript ready.

Once your name appears on the senate list, complete your online registration on the NYSC portal. Here are all the requirements:

Forgot Your NYSC Portal Password?
On the login page, click "Forgot Password". Enter your registered email address and NYSC will send a reset link. Check your spam/junk folder. If you no longer have access to your registration email, contact NYSC at info@nysc.gov.ng.
Can I Login with Gmail?
The NYSC portal uses standard username/password login — not Google OAuth. You can use your Gmail address as your registered email but there is no "Sign in with Google" button. Simply enter your Gmail address and the password you created when registering on the NYSC portal.
About NYSC — National Youth Service Corps
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a mandatory one-year national service program established by Decree No. 51 of 1973 (now the NYSC Act Cap N84 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004). Every Nigerian graduate below the age of 30 at graduation from an accredited institution is required to participate.
The program has four phases: a 3-week orientation camp, primary assignment (PPA), community development service, and the passing-out parade. After successful completion, corps members receive an NYSC discharge certificate — one of the most important documents for employment in Nigeria.
