Modibbo Adama University (MAU), located in Yola, Adamawa State, is a federal university of technology established in 1981 by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The university began academic activities in 1983 and is named after Modibbo Adama, the 19th-century Fulani scholar and founder of the Adamawa Emirate. Formerly known as Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), the institution was rebranded as Modibbo Adama University in 2021 to reflect its expanded scope beyond pure technology. MAU is one of seven federal universities of technology in Nigeria and is the premier federal university in Adamawa State. The university operates nine faculties plus a college of medicine and conducts both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across engineering, sciences, agriculture, management, and health sciences. MAU also runs a distance learning programme and a pre-degree programme.
