Dr. Emmanuel Meribole is a medical doctor and public administrator who was appointed Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Abia State, effective 1 January 2026, following the approval of a leave of absence for the substantive SSG, Prof. Kenneth Kalu.
Before his elevation, Meribole served as Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Projects, where he was credited with helping drive key developmental initiatives across the state. He retired from the federal civil service as Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development before joining the Otti administration.
He succeeded on an acting basis from Prof. Kenneth Kalu, an academic who had served as substantive SSG since Otti's inauguration in May 2023, appointed as part of the governor's first set of appointments alongside Chief of Staff Pastor Caleb Ajagba.
