👤 About Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa
Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was born on 12 January 1965 in Obe-Nla, in the Ilaje area of Ondo State. He obtained an NCE in Economics from the Lagos State College of Education (now Lagos State University of Education), Ijanikin, and later studied at the University of Ibadan before earning an MBA from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, in 2013, alongside executive training at the Lagos Business School and Pan-Atlantic University.
Before entering full-time politics, Aiyedatiwa built a business career as founder and Managing Director/CEO of the Blue Wall Group of Companies since 1996, with interests including Blue Wall Nigeria Limited, Blue Wall Bureau de Change, and Blue Wall Travels and Tours. He served as a Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from 2018 to 2019.
He was elected Deputy Governor of Ondo State alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in October 2020, taking office in February 2021. He twice served as Acting Governor while Akeredolu was on medical leave — first from June to September 2023, and again from December 2023 — before being sworn in as substantive Governor on 27 December 2023 following Akeredolu's death in Germany. Constitutionally limited to completing his predecessor's term plus one further term, Aiyedatiwa contested the November 2024 gubernatorial election on the APC platform and won with 366,781 votes, defeating former Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi of the PDP. He was sworn in for his full four-year term on 24 February 2025.

🏛 Role of the Governor of Ondo State
The Governor of Ondo State is the chief executive and head of government of the state. Under the Nigerian Constitution, the governor is elected by popular vote for a four-year term, renewable once. The governor heads the state executive council, assents to bills passed by the State House of Assembly, and directs the allocation of the state's budget and resources.
Ondo State is part of the SW geopolitical zone, with Akure as its capital. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa currently serves as governor since December 27, 2023.
