Lawal Mohammed Alade Pedro SAN was born on 6 October 1961 in Lagos Island, Lagos. He obtained his law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1985 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986 after completing his studies at the Nigerian Law School.
Pedro joined the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in December 1987 as a State Counsel and worked across various directorates, becoming Director of Civil Litigation in 2006. In April 2008 he was appointed Solicitor-General of Lagos State and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, and in the same year was conferred the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) — making him the first State Counsel in the public service of Lagos, or indeed any Nigerian state, to attain SAN rank while still serving.
He briefly left government for private legal practice before being appointed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on 13 September 2023, succeeding Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
