👤 About Mr. Adetokunbo "Tokunbo" Philip Wahab
Adetokunbo Philip "Tokunbo" Wahab was born on 17 May 1972 in Lagos State. He attended Army Barracks Primary School and Army Children High School in Epe before obtaining a National Diploma in Mass Communication from Ogun State Polytechnic in 1993. He earned his LLB from the University of Benin in 1998 and completed his legal training at the Nigerian Law School in 2000.
Wahab practised law for over two decades, including as a Senior Associate at Aluko & Oyebode and as Managing Partner of Wali & Ace Legal Practitioners, which he founded in 2008. He served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Education from August 2019 to May 2023, during which he led reforms to tertiary education policy.
In September 2023 he was appointed Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, succeeding Tunji Bello. In this role he has driven Lagos's transition toward a circular waste management system, including energy recovery and composting, while enforcing environmental impact assessments and prosecuting ecological offenders.
