Maximum O'Level score: With 5 A1s = 5 × 6 = 30 points. The O'Level component is then: (your points ÷ 30) × 20 to get your contribution out of 20% of the aggregate.
What Is an Aggregate Score?
An aggregate score is a single number that universities use to rank all candidates who applied for a particular course. It combines your JAMB UTME result, O'Level grades and Post-UTME score into one standardised figure out of 100.
The aggregate replaces using raw UTME score alone for ranking — because two candidates could have the same UTME score but very different O'Level grades and Post-UTME performance. The aggregate captures all three dimensions of academic performance and creates a fairer ranking system.
Why this matters: Meeting JAMB's national cut-off mark (typically 140–200 for universities) only means you are eligible to apply. Your actual admission offer depends on your aggregate score ranking against other candidates who applied for the same course at the same university. The higher your aggregate, the better your chances.
Example: UNILAG receives 5,000 applications for Mass Communication. JAMB's cut-off is 180. All 5,000 candidates scored 180+, but UNILAG only admits 200 students. The 200 students with the highest aggregate scores (UTME + O'Level + Post-UTME) get the offers.
The Aggregate Score Formula Explained
The standard aggregate calculation used by most federal universities works as follows:

- O'Level: (21 ÷ 30) × 20 = 14.00
- Post-UTME: (68 ÷ 100) × 30 = 20.40
- Aggregate = 35.00 + 14.00 + 20.40 = 69.40 / 100
