Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) is a federal university of agriculture established by Decree No. 48 of 2 November 1992 and named in honour of Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara, Premier of the old Eastern Region of Nigeria from 1959 to 1966. Located in Umudike, Umuahia, Abia State, MOUAU is one of three federal universities of agriculture in Nigeria. MOUAU school fees are heavily subsidised by the Federal Government and are among the most affordable in Nigeria. For the 2025/2026 academic session, undergraduate school fees for Nigerian students range from approximately NGN 60,000 to NGN 110,000 per session depending on the college and programme. Agricultural engineering and veterinary medicine attract slightly higher fees. The acceptance fee for fresh students is paid once upon offer of admission.
